Improving execution speed

My friend Wendy gave me a helpful framing today on how to think about improving my execution speed as an Uber Tech Lead, when she finds it difficult to work with someone:

My projects will move forward.

You can move forward, or I can go over, under, or around you.

over = escalate
under = find someone lower level and just work with them
around = find an alternative that doesn't involve that team or approach

Obviously, I try to collaborate with people and hear them out, and give it time before I give up on them.

But at some point, the work needs to get done, and that's my responsibility.

Sometimes, execution speed just needs to improve.
