Being afraid to do the thing

Lately, I've been having a lot of conversations where people share their hopes and dreams with me, but feel uncertainty about achieving them.

The common theme is that they have some desire for influence and impact, but don't know how to get there.

"I want to be that person who walks into a room, and just knows things, and always seems to say the right thing," someone told me. "Usually I know the right answer too, I just don't seize the moment and speak up."

"I see all these people running successful businesses, and I don't understand how," another person told me. "Their stuff isn't even that good."

I can't pinpoint the origin of this quote, but the advice I consistently offer is this:

“There are people less qualified than you, doing things you want to do, because they believe in themselves and take action.”

It usually doesn't matter what you do, or how you go about doing it. Just do something and get started.
